Inter Milan 0 – 1 Liverpool (agg. 0 – 3)
On 16 February, following Liverpool’s loss to Barnsley in the FA Cup, I wrote, “this game will stand out as the one when Liverpool reached the point of no more turning back.”
I was, of course, referring to Liverpool’s inevitable decline.
I couldn’t have been more wrong.
Since then Liverpool have won six games on the trot, scoring 16 goals while giving away only three. And, thanks to today’s victory, Liverpool are now in the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the third time in four years.
Perhaps the point of no more turning back was reached . . . perhaps the boys finally realised it was time to start playing like a team.
